About the Free State Yoga Festival

Celebrate you with one day of soul-nourishing connection through yoga in nature!

The Free State Yoga Festival is a one-day event at the Chihowa Retreat Center just north of Lawrence, KS. Come celebrate Yoga in Kansas with a festival that offers yoga, meditation, live music, a 5K fun run, hiking, SUP yoga, acro yoga, wellness chats, vendor shopping, food, and more.

The Free State Yoga Festival features expert teachers, artists, and scholars, from locally and beyond.

The Free State Yoga Festival will begin with a one-mile to 5K fun trail run or walk along the outer banks of the natural spring pond of the Chihowa Retreat Center. Post-run, roll out your mat for a live music community yoga class. Followed by an afternoon of picking your own festival adventures. Gather as a community for festival closings, a Sunset Meditation and Sound Bath, and clean-up of the retreat center!

Chose from a wide variety of breakout sessions for your afternoon. Stroll through the Zen Market to shop and learn about the offerings of our festival’s Health and Wellness partners. Bring any new or gently used yoga and fitness gear and wear to donate or swap at our Swap Shop.

“We strive to make yoga, fitness, health, and wellness accessible to everyBODY in our community.”

We strive to make yoga, fitness, health, and wellness accessible to everyBODY in our community, from Lawrence and beyond. Festival-goers will receive a free yoga class at each supporting studio, a Wellness Guide featuring the festival’s Health and Wellness Partners, and a tote. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the local non-profit Just Food.
